Home Raising Services

Comal has been, and continues to be, a reliable source for homeowners when it comes to home elevation engineering and construction. Comal has had the privilege of being a part of many home elevation projects, primarily in the greater Houston area and surrounding counties. In the aftermath of Harvey, the need for such expertise increased greatly and Comal has been there to meet the demand. Comal has participated in two hundred forty-five (245) home elevation projects since Harvey.

Home Raising Steps



Pre-Construction & Prep

An initial Elevation Certificate and lot survey are ordered, as well as an 8-1-1 so that underground utility services can be marked.



Subterranean Pilings

Each piling is a series of concrete segments with rebar dowel pins down the center for alignment.



House Raising

A unified jacking system is used to raise the house. A series of hydraulic jacks are installed under the house on roughly every other piling.



Foundation

The foundation has many components, and we use concrete grade beams around the perimeter of the house.



Utilities

We strive to have all the utilities reconnected as soon as we can after the house is lifted allowing you to move back in as soon as possible. The electrician will reconnect any electrical connections or wiring that were severed to raise the house.



Post Raising Services

Insulation, enclosure wall, landings & steps, as well as flatwork & restoration - and even lawn work.

Other Services

Inspection

An initial Elevation Certificate (EC) and lot survey are ordered. This will show the Base Flood Elevation (BFE; box B9 on the EC) and the current elevation of the house (top of bottom floor, box C2.a). This information determines the minimum height the house will be raised to meet program requirements in relation to BFE. Engineering can then be finalized, and a set of stamped drawings submitted for construction. Insurance and bonding information are provided during this stage. Once we are issued a permit and given Notice to Proceed (NTP), the next stage will start.
